A few major highlights of the hospital construction phase are as follows:

  • The hospital construction will be divided into three phases. PKLI will inaugurate first 100 beds in December 2017.
  • PKLI will eventually be a facility with 800 beds (extendable to 1500 beds), a 100 bed emergency center, a 100 bed ICU, a 100 beds outpatient dialysis facility, 500-beds in-patient facility, 20 operating rooms & 10 same day surgery suites. 
  • Apart from having the largest transplantation center in the country, the hospital complex will comprise of a Nursing School, Male and Female Dormitories, Patient and Doctors’ Apartments, Bazar, Energy Center, Nursery and Mosque.
  • The hospital ground breaking ceremony, performed by Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab and Patron in Chief, PKLI was held on 14th August 2015 at the PKLI & RC Site.
  • The Government of the Punjab (GoP) has sponsored the hospital construction and has committed to finance the operations for the first 3 years. The total construction cost of the Hospital including the hospital medical equipment cost is Rs. 16 billion.
  • The Government of the Punjab, PKLI Project Management Team, the Project Management Consultants, Project Design Consultants, and General Contractors are the executing bodies of the hospital complex.
  • The hospital is located on a 60-acre land, transferred by GoP to PKLI, in the Lahore Knowledge City.
  • PKLI launched its first Hepatitis Prevention and Treatment Clinic (HPTC) on 19th March 2017. The clinic offers free of cost screening and vaccination and partial or fully subsidized treatment to the patients of Hepatitis. 
  • PKLI will launch 24 sentinel sites in the rural areas of Punjab in August 2017.
